Perspectives on SaaS: 'Software as a Service'
28 January 2010

The theme of Spectrum's executive seminar on January 28th was 'Perspectives on SaaS'.

Over 100 executive guests joined us at The Lansdowne Club in Mayfair, London to listen to a diverse set of speakers.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Steve Garnett, Chairman EMEA at Salesforce.com, and the client address was provided by Bernie Segal, European Head Software-as-a-Service at Infosys.

These two presentations were interspersed with talks from Andrew McGregor the CEO of eCommera, who provided an early-stage venture perspective on the market, and from Claudio Alvarez, Vice President at technology investment bank GP Bullhound, who delivered the investor perspective on the SaaS sector.

GP Bullhound also kindly provided their recent SaaS Sector Update report, written by Claudio Alvarez, to delegates.

There then followed a lively Q&A session with the audience, followed by the opportunity for our guests to network before departing at 11am.

Further Executive Breakfast Seminars are planned throughout 2010.

'Leadership & Ambiguity: leading with a map'
16 June 2009

The theme of Spectrum's executive seminar on June 16th was 'Leadership & Ambiguity', and the session was delivered in association with Ashridge, the #1 ranked business school by the FT for tailored executive education, and took place at St. Martin’s Lane Hotel in central London.

The session was led by Ashridge Business Directors Paul Griffith, Philippa Hardman and Chris Nichols.

Over ninety executive guests joined an interactive and participative peer learning event that looked at leadership as both navigation and exploration, and which aimed to provide a series of essential tips for leaders going into uncharted territory.

The discussion considered a number of issues including:

·          Should leaders have total clarity of vision and be able to take people on a journey with complete confidence?

·          What happens for you as a leader when you don’t know where you’re going?

·          Do you pretend to know the outcome or do you own up to being lost?

Spectrum Evening Seminar: 'The Tools of Disruption: Emerging technology trends & consumer behaviour'
4 October 2005

This event was held at The Arts Club in Mayfair, London. Over 80 executive guests enjoyed an evening of conversation and canapés, interspersed with a keynote address from Dr Norman Lewis.

Dr Norman Lewis, Head of Consumer Research at France Telecom's Home Division delivered a highly passionate and debate-generating presentation identifying the paradigm shift in consumer behaviour from that of passive receiver and viewer of information, to what is termed the 'Prosumer' and the power of user generated content.

Utilising extensive front line research as well as an analysis of fast emerging enterprises such as You Tube and Flickr, Dr Lewis painted an exciting picture of the future, but one that would pose very real and significant challenges to the traditional telecommunications service providers worldwide.

Dr Lewis' presentation is available to download here:
